the happiest place on earth....

yes, Avery made her first trip to Disneyland. we were very excited to take her to one of our favorite places, but, also nervous at the same time. we had no idea how she was going to do - but, she passed through the day with flying colors and was amazing!! it is definitely a different experience going to Disneyland with a baby, since we are used to it just being the 2 of us and we jump from ride to ride all day long. now, you have to take breaks to feed her every 3 hours. thankfully, in between thoses feedings, she pretty much slept the entire time. The rides Avery ventured on - King Arthurs Carrousel, Winnie the Pooh, the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Carribbean, Space Mountain (haha - just kidding! only mom went on that one).

And we were so happy Avery was able to experience Disneyland for her first time with her Aunt Jen, Uncle Jared and Cousin Will! They were in town from Seattle over the weekend. Jen and Jared have made many a trip down to LA for Disneyland over the past 4 or 5 years and its been a blast! And Avery's next visit to D-land is already going to be next week, when my family from Ohio comes out to CA for a whole week! Any chance at 10 weeks old that she'll remember these trips?? :)

Here are some pictures of the highlights of our day...and a few other pictures from the weekend. Bear with me...I've posted lots of pictures!

Just a few things...

I took Avery to the beach again on a beautiful Thursday afternoon this week. We went for a nice long walk/run. And, of course, Avery slept the entire time again. She still has yet to actually see the ocean! It's okay...lots of time for that.

I realized the other day that most of the pictures of Avery, if not all of them lately, are of her sleeping. And as cute as she is when she is sleeping, I took a couple of pictures of her awake with her eyes actually open! So, here are a couple of shots of her just chillin' on my lap.

And of course, classic Avery sleeping. She lost one of her socks, and I just thought it was the cutest little pic of her feet.

And on a final note, Josh and I have both been sick for over a week now and we just praise God for keeping Avery healthy during that time!

Avery goes to the beach!

Her first trip to the beach, actually. It was a gorgeous Saturday so we rolled out of bed and loaded up the jetta with the peanut and stroller and visited the beach for Avery's first coastal adventure. It was probably about 85 degrees or so, and Josh, Avery and I walked up and down the boardwalk in Santa Monica to enjoy the georgeous day and the many people out biking, running, walking, rollerblading, etc. And although Avery slept the entire time, and we were only there for about an hour, and we didn't take her out of her carseat, I really think she enjoyed it.

Grandma and Grandpa Olson

Josh's parents, Jeff and Jane, came to visit this past weekend and meet their 7th grandchild. It was so fun to have them here. Avery just fell in love with them, too! We had a great time...went out to eat, went on a long walk, watched the Final Four, took a nice drive to Newport Beach, and on Saturday the men trekked over to Speed Zone to race some cars while the women laid by the pool and soaked up some rays (not to worry...the little girl was completely covered and in the shade!) It really was a great weekend. Jeff and Jane graciously babysat one night so Josh and I could go out to dinner, just the two of us. It really is important to focus on "us" and our relationship as well as Avery, ya know?
OH - and good news, too. Avery had another check-up today with her doctor. And she weighed in this morning at 6 pounds even! We were so proud...our little peanut is getting so big and growing up right before our eyes!

Irony

Today is Avery's official due date - April 3, 2008. Ironically, she will be 7 weeks old tomorrow, which is so hard to believe. She came into our lives so much earlier than expected. But, Josh and I have cherished these last 7 weeks and have fallen in love with our little bundle of joy. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. I think we could just stare at her all day long! Avery's first adventure out to eat. We went to a little diner in Santa Monica for lunch on Saturday. She slept the entire time. And where did she snag a pair of headphones??
